QUIETLY, and with little fanfare, Celine Boutier is making a name for herself on the LPGA Tour. Through seven starts this season, heading into the Cognizant Founders Cup on May 11, the 29-year-old Boutier ranked fourth in the CME Race to the Globe and stood 11th in both the world rankings and on the LPGA scoring average list. In March, she recorded the third victory of her seven-year LPGA career at the LPGA Drive on Championship at Superstition Mountain, to go with wins at the ISPS Handa Vic Open in February 2019 and at the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer in June of 2021. BEING able to ‘be what you can see’ is the driving force behind Golf Australia’s new initiative, Women in Golf Careers Showcase. EVEN before tournament week, Lilia Vu sensed there would be something different about this year’s Chevron Championship. “I’m guessing that it’s different grass in Houston from that in Palm Springs,” she said. “I think I’m going to get there a day early just to figure out the golf course with my coach and caddie and go from there and try to have a good week.” Vu’s observation, in response to a reporter’s question, proved to be prophetic and her preparation paid off.
