To us, the notion is interesting because everyone has their own take and interpretation of it; Asia is, after all, the world’s largest and most diverse continent. Billed as Asia’s leading international design event, the 2023 edition of Design Shanghai brought together established and emerging designers from mainland China and around the world under one roof. Held from June 8 to 11 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre, the fair presented a series of exhibitions, installations, design forums and networking events. “In the first edition of Design Shanghai, only one local brand participated. With its rich blend of cultural influences, it’s no wonder that the shophouses in Singapore retain an irresistible allure. So, when chef Danial Chua needed to pick a new location for Little Social, a private dining venue, this shophouse in central Singapore was an instant winner. Already a fan of local retailer Snow Globe, Chua knew that its furniture selection would make a perfect fit with his dining concept. He wanted to bring furnishings from the previous location to this site, and carefully hand-picked new pieces from Snow Globe to complement the eclectic look.
