JOHNNY SMITH OF MAGNOLIA, TEXAS, IS THE OWNER OF MPS PERFORMANCE AND RESTORATION. As with any classic-auto restoration shop, Johnny wanted to build something to showcase the shop’s capabilities, as well as build something that didn’t break the bank. The result is the beautiful 1959 Chevy Apache you see here. To start the project off in the right direction, the truck was completely disassembled down to the bare frame. Johnny wanted to ensure the factory frame was suitable for not only the big engine, but so that it also gave the truck the right stance. This is where MPS fully boxed the frame, added a Fat Man Fabrications tubular Mustang II-style front suspension, and installed a 4-link suspension in the rear.
