It’s a great time to be talking about design in Singapore. That’s an opinion that I share openly whenever someone asks about my thoughts on the future of the country’s design scene. I’m glad to say that this is also a sentiment shared by Yaacob Ibrahim, minister for communications & information. In a speech he delivered recently at the launch of this year’s Singapore Design Week, the minister said, “Receiving the UNESCO Creative City of Design designation last year was a testament to how far Singapore design has progressed.
