A small mountain community in the Himalaya called Thame, which is home to several Nepalese mountain guides, was struck by a devastating flood of freezing water earlier this year. Luckily nobody was killed, but dozens of homes were lost, including lodges used by trekkers passing through. Videos posted on social media by the local authorities showed muddy water digging through the landscape in scenes that looked like they were from Hollywood movies. Entire structures collapsed, as people fled to higher ground.
