Thirty years ago Kelvin Davies was visiting the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland for the first time when he saw the signs. Along the roads in the lowland area, hundreds of real estate banners and stands were advertising blocks of land. “I thought, ‘How can the rainforest be for sale? Isn’t it a national park?’” Kelvin, now 56, tells Woman’s Day. When he looked into it, he discovered that in the early 1980s a huge part of the Daintree was divided up and zoned for residential development.
