A record 12 million people are believed to have toasted the Queen over tea, quiches, cakes and scones at more than 200,000 local events and street parties. More than 85,000 Big Jubilee lunches were registered at the time of press, eclipsing the 64,000 similar events at the Golden Jubilee in 2002.
