It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years since little William Tyrrell vanished. We were all heartbroken as the days continued without him being found and as the years have gone on, we, as a nation, have never given up hope that he would return safe and well. At the time of going to print, police were again continuing their search for the bubbly little boy in the Spider-Man suit, an image forever engrained in our hearts, who would have turned 10 this year. As we put together this week’s issue, William was very much at the forefront of our minds. Also in this week’s mag, our wonderful team have put together some fabulous tips to make sure your Christmas holidays feel less stressed and more relaxed (see p60), and…

WHO’S THE MYSTERY MAN, KATIE? She may be busy directing and starring in upcoming movie Rare Objects, but it seems Katie Holmes is still making time to squeeze in some romance and fun, after she was seen getting flirty on the set of her new film in New York. Flashing a cheeky grin and laughing, the 42-year-old star looked smitten with her handsome co-star, David Alexander Flinn. After splitting from chef Emilio Vitolo Jr in May, sources said dating “is not a huge priority” for the star who “has a full plate with work and [15-year-old daughter] Suri.” But it seems the former Dawson’s Creek star may have decided to mix business with pleasure and look for new love on the job. “Looks like she has a crush on her…
Every morning for seven years, the small community of Kendall on the NSW Mid North Coast has woken up with fresh hope that this will be the day the precious little boy in the Spider-Man suit will finally be found, safe and sound. Shortly before 10.30am on September 12, 2014, 10km from the town’s quaint village and a stone’s throw from the local showgrounds, a three-year-old boy named William Tyrrell was happily playing in his foster grandmother’s garden. BRAVE BOY He should have been, like most wide-eyed youngsters his age, full of beans with not a care in the world. Instead, he went missing, the brave lad with the warmest of hazel eyes was gone. Over the next five hours, a bunch of volunteers from the local area joined forces…
As Australia celebrated Cleo Smith’s safe return home 18 days after she vanished from a campsite in Western Australia, the country’s thoughts immediately turned to William Tyrrell. The timing of the renewed efforts in William’s case may seem convenient, coming so soon after the public interest in the successful Cleo Smith search, but criminologist Xanthe Mallett says it’s most likely coincidental. “All this [activity in William’s case] is news to the public but the police will have been building up to this for some time,” she tells Woman’s Day. Lessons learned during the William investigation may have served to find Cleo (pictured right). “WA threw everything at the investigation straight away – they established a large task force of about 140 officers, and they shut down the site very quickly,…
Making news Last week as shocking new developments were made almost hourly in the William Tyrrell case, forensics and police officers swarmed the grounds of the Kendall property where the missing three-year-old was last seen. Just before 8.30am on November 18, carloads of investigators arrived at a new search site, focusing their efforts on an area of bushland close by the house. SEARCHING FOR CLUES Wheelbarrows were unloaded as officers began removing branches and debris from the site. It’s believed two pieces of material were recovered near there during last week’s search with officers seen comparing them to samples of a red and blue Spider-Man suit – the outfit William was wearing when he was last seen on September 12, 2014. Now, a further twist has rocked Australia, with William’s…
