There can’t be an Aussie who doesn’t recall little Bindi Irwin standing in front of a packed Australia Zoo stadium and speaking to more than 300 million viewers around the world at her dad’s memorial service. “My Daddy was my hero. I had the best Daddy in the whole world and I will miss him every day,’’ she said with incredible confidence. I was around the same age when I lost my dad. Similarly, he died suddenly while overseas, and I can remember feeling Bindi’s shock and sadness at the time of Steve’s death, and wondering where she was getting all that strength. Fast forward to now, and Bindi is yet again capturing the hearts of millions as she tops the leaderboard on the US version of Dancing with the…
SOFIA VERGARA Locked and loaded for battle, Sofia brings out the heavy torpedoes! Having never met a strapless she didn’t like, the actress paints herself into a sequinned St. John column. With her wedding to hunky Joe Manganiello coming up, how will she ever top this jaw-dropper? MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL You’ve got to love Maggie for being consistent! Swimming in oodles of wrinkled taffeta, she never quite gets it right, does she? Oscar de la Renta may have designed this pricey dud, but it seems more fitting for Barney the Dinosaur. Saggy sweetheart neckline is just plain heartbreaking. ELISABETH MOSS & JANUARY JONES Going girlie in a massive ball gown, Lizzie might want to ask her Mad Men co-star January for the name of a good hairdresser. As usual, Miss Jones…
A decade and a half before Bindi Irwin stepped onto this season’s Dancing with the Stars stage in the US, she tried out her moves in front of an audience of one: her father, Steve Irwin. As her mum Terri tells it, baby Bindi would toddle around their home inside Queensland’s Australia Zoo, and fearless wildlife expert Steve would melt. “Mum said every time I danced as a baby, he’d start crying!” says Bindi of her dad, who died in 2006 at 44 after a stingray’s barb pierced through his heart. The 17-year-old’s spirited jive (to Crocodile Rock, naturally) during the premiere earned a standing ovation. “I hope my dad would be proud,” says Bindi, who vowed to carry on his conservation legacy. With mum, Terri, and brother Robert, 11,…
She remained coy about his identity for some time but since confirming in July, that she’s in a relationship with university student Chandler, Bindi has revealed he’s one of her biggest supports. And he’s very much a part of the family, joining Terri and Bob in the audience to cheer on Bindi during her live DWTS performances. Last month, Bindi told Sunday Style magazine she feels “very lucky to have him in my life”. Aww, young love.…
She’s always said being a mother is the greatest blessing of all – and now it seems Princess Mary could be welcoming another little prince or princess to the family. The Tassie-born royal looked happy and healthier than ever, wearing uncharacteristically loose clothes while shopping with a friend last week. For the people of Denmark, who simply can’t get enough of the picture-perfect royal family, a new addition would be a wonderful surprise. Mary and Fred, whose relationship has gone from strength to strength in recent times, are already loving parents to Christian, 9, Isabella, 8, and four-year-old twins Josephine and Vincent. The reports follow Mary and Fred’s trip to Norway earlier this month, where they joined the Swedish, Luxembourgian and Norwegian royals for a weekend mini-break. The couples all…
As Robby and Lee Kernaghan walk hand in hand along the beach, their love for each other is plain to see. For the past 18 years, Robby has been Lee’s unfaltering support – his songwriting partner, his backup singer and his producer, as well as his wife and the mother of his children. Now, however, it’s Robby’s turn to step into the spotlight. At 49, and in the best shape of her life, Robby has stepped out from behind the scenes to launch her solo career. And there’s not a country ballad in sight. Her debut album, Obsession, is an upbeat pop record, full of songs about life and love. “I have always loved expressing myself through my songs,” Robby says. “There is a fear when you’re putting your music…
