What Motorhome is the UK’s only magazine purely dedicated to motorhome reviews with the ultimate aim of helping you find your perfect motorhome. Choose the deal that suit you best with great savings on print and digital subscriptions.
We have another varied selection of vehicles for you in this issue. Of course, the Hymer Venture S takes star billing, simply because it is such an innovative, one-of-a-kind motorhome. It’s one that everyone at What Motorhome dreams of seeing parked on their drive. And it’s the Motorhome of the Year 2023, too. However, my interest is almost equally piqued by the Hotomobil Gladiator, a ’van that you’ll probably never have heard of because it’s brand-new in the UK and comes from Turkey. It was rather tucked away at the NEC in February, too, so we don’t blame you if you missed it there. What’s so special? Well, that monocoque body for a start − we’d love to see more motorhomes made in this durable, leakproof fashion. Then there’s the…
In the face of continuing delays and poor availability of Fiat Ducato panel vans for its van conversion range, Leeds-based Consort Motorhomes has come up with a solution to get would-be campervan owners on the road sooner – and at lower cost. The company has sourced a supply of used Peugeot Boxer vans to convert, all of which are under two years old and with up to 25,000 miles recorded (sometimes much less). They come with the balance of Peugeot’s base vehicle warranty (typically around 18 months) and, as the conversions are brand-new, the habitation side is covered by Consort’s usual comprehensive three-year warranty. Prices for these pre-owned Peugeots with new conversions start at £54,950 for the medium-wheelbase Kite S1 model. All three sizes of Consort camper – 5.41m (Kite…
A record of over 108,000 visitors attended the 2023 Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC exhibition centre in Birmingham this February. If you were not among those who attended and are wondering what you missed, we got in early to create a video of some of the highlight models launched at the show – watch it at motorhome.ma/NECFeb23 The show attracted many leading manufacturers, dealers and converters who were spread across the five halls (almost 20 acres) at the NEC in Birmingham. Many of the exhibitors praised the success of the show, particularly due to the record number of visitors and volume of sales. “We are ecstatic with the outcome of the show. It’s been a record-breaking event in terms of visitor numbers, and we are pleased that this…
Scottish campervan converter, Jerba, has completed its first conversion on Volkswagen’s largest van, the Crafter, and is now working on its second. Offering lengths from 6m to 7.4m, the current Crafter was launched in 2017 and is becoming a popular basis for conversions. It is the big brother to the T6.1 Transporter, which is the basis for Jerba’s current range of campervans. Co-founder of Jerba Campervans, Simon Poole, says, “The transformation of our first Crafter van marked a big step for us. It’s the perfect-sized van and is extremely versatile. It has a particularly comfortable cab, which means you can take it on even longer journeys.” North Berwick-based Jerba is the only firm in Scotland to be officially recognised by Volkswagen as a Motorhome Qualified Converter. The employee-owned converter has also recently…

The founder of the motorhome, campervan and caravan manufacturer, Hobby, has received the German Camping Award 2023 in recognition of his services to the industry. Harald Striewski established Hobby in 1967 after building a couple of caravans for himself and selling them on for a profit. From a two-man team, so to speak (Harald and his wife, Ingebore), the company now employs over 1,000 people on a 260,000 square metre site. The award itself has been presented by the German Camping Club in association with the city of Essen since 1970. Harald said, “I’m touched and grateful for the tremendous recognition of my entire life’s work by the city of Essen and the German Camping Club. It still fills me with great pleasure to know that I’m elevating the camping…
