The West has different meanings to different people. Poll 100 people about what the West is and you’re likely to get 100 different answers. I was born and raised in Arizona, so my earliest definition involved Western movies. Many of the early Westerns were shot in Arizona, including at the famous Old Tucson studio. If you planned your day right you could hit Tucson to see where John Sturges shot Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in 1957 and then drive another hour south to Tombstone to see the actual O.K. Corral, where the famous gunfight happened 76 years prior to that. It was also fun to pick the movies apart a little.
