With previews of gallery exhibitions, museum shows and auctions, Western Art Collector is the premier monthly magazine for collectors searching for works by talented living and past artists who depict the West in paintings and sculptures.
We have been publishing Western Art Collector for 13 years now and don’t plan on going anywhere at all during this difficult time in American history. In fact, not only are we still continuing to publish this magazine every single month to help all our friends, galleries, artists and collectors, but we’ve even added a few new ways to help our clients reach the best and most active collectors on the market today. First of all, we have started providing email services to our clients. With galleries and artists across the country having to close their doors for the time being, we think our email blasts will help get the best art in front of the best collectors each day. For all our subscribers, we hope this offers you a…
The Oil Painters of America’s Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils, originally set to take place in May, will be running this year from October 16 to November 28 at RS Hanna Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas. Celebrating its 29th year, the anticipated show features more than 200 juried original works from OPA members. Kicking off the event is the opening reception, held October 16, in which collectors have the first opportunity to purchase new artwork and get a glimpse of the show. This is also where awards will be given by the 2020 juror, Rose Frantzen. One of the many talented artists whose work has been juried into this year’s exhibition is Jeremy Goodding. His oil Tamegroute Green is a still life of a handmade ceramic pot against a…

Adam Duncan Harris, the curator of art at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, has been appointed to the position of Grainger/Kerr Director of the Carl Rungius Catalogue Raisonné. This new position and initiative will create a complete catalogue of all of Rungius’ finished paintings. Harris will devote his full attention to the raisonné, and the museum will consider an interim curator of art. “A raisonné is an extensive undertaking and I consider it a distinct honor to have been selected to perform the work,” says Harris. “After years of working with the Rungius pieces, whose works make up the largest number of pieces in the permanent collection at the museum, I am prepared—and excited—to take this next step in my profession.” The National Museum of…
Less than a week before the start of Western Art Week—the annual citywide art event in Great Falls, Montana—the March show was dealt a blow when The Russell, the annual show and sale put on by the C.M. Russell Museum, was postponed in its entirety due to the current worldwide health crisis. A short time later two other Western Art Week shows made similar moves: the Out West Art Show & Sale and the Great Western Living & Design Show. But after some behind-the-scenes tweaking, all three shows are back, and all will be at the same venue. The new dates are September 10 through 12, and the location is the 53,000-square-foot Pacific Steel & Recycling Arena at the Montana ExpoPark in Great Falls. Not only will the event be…
