Bonza spreads its wings
Australia’s new low-cost airline, Bonza, hopes to pioneer a revival in regional aviation, shunning the big capital cities bar one (Melbourne) in its initial list of 17 destinations across the states. Of its 27 routes, 80 per cent are currently unserviced by airlines and 96 per cent are new to low-cost carriers.
Bonza, due to start operating midyear (subject to regulatory approval), has chosen Sunshine Coast Airport as its home base and Melbourne Airport as second base. Other routes are: Albury, Avalon, Bundaberg, Cairns, Coffs Harbour, Gladstone, Mackay, Mildura, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Rockhampton, Tamworth, Toowoomba Wellcamp, Townsville and the Whitsunday Coast.
