The day we went to print with this issue, the devastating news broke of the attack at Bondi Beach. It is unfathomable what has occurred at one of Australia’s most iconic locations where communities were celebrating and families were enjoying a summer’s evening at the beach. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this event, including the victims and their families, the Jewish community, the first responders, emergency personnel and heroic members of the public who bravely leapt into action to help and save lives. As we rally together in the aftermath, our strength in unity and community spirit is what makes Australians so special. Letter of the month Thank you for the community spirit article on King Island (King Island’s new season of hope, AWW, Christmas). We were fortunate to visit in January 2022, a little after COVID also decided to arrive. Locals tried to put on brave faces but there were restrictions popping up everywhere and a lot of the stores were closing. We could see fear and uncertainty in so many faces. We were very lucky to visit the Dairy, as it closed the next day. Such a beautiful part of Australia where life is relaxed and you can feel lost in time.
