In the course of the latest Miami Yacht Show, Benetti unveiled three different project designs for their latest entries: Now FAST range. This new “fast displacement” superyacht line will flank the existing Now steel and aluminium displacing custom line. The volumes of this latest range will be almost the same as the displacing ones’ of the same size but will be considerably quicker over the water we’re talking about speeds which are 30% higher. With more than 140 years experience in ship building under their belt, Benetti’s new entries trace the brand’s typical traits but they’re more aggressive and sporty looking. Reichel/Pugh design studio has recently proposed two very interesting concept designs . One is of a classic sailing yacht the other of a modern one, The first one is of 220’code named 262. The exterior design work was carried out by the California based design studio which sports three guest cabins, an owner’s suite and accommodation for a crew of eight. The styling clearly recalls the 220’ “Hetarios” which Reichel/Pugh Yacht design drew up for Baltic Yachts. The second is a 55metre flybridge sailing yacht named 267 which the design studio has developed in terms of naval architecture and design. Ferretti Yachts is currently renewing its flying bridge range of superyachts. Older models are being replaced accordingly with new technologic contents and style while maintaining company policy which translates into offering premium quality in build but in equipment and finishes as well where every detail is taken into due account. Among leading superyacht shipyards there’s one in particular which stands out of the chorus line for the kind of performance its ‘small’ ships are capable of. The yard’s name which comes from Holland is Heesen Yachts. It was one of the first if not the first to adopt FDHF configuration (Fast Displacement Hull Form) by Van Oossanen back in 2013 we’re talking about “Galactica Star”. Cantiere delle Marche has recently sold another yacht an Acciaio 118’ model to a Russian client. This new yacht is the second of the line, the previous one from the Acciaio line was the 105’ model sold just six months ago. Both yachts’ project design work was carried out by Sergio Curolo’s Hydrotec which also developed an explorer model in steel and aluminium featuring a rounded displacing hull equipped with a bulbous bow with a GRT of 350 GTs. The new Acciaio 118’ betters the already appreciated seakeeping qualities of the CDM navette, and is specially efficient in terms of performance and fuel consumption. Michael Schmidt Yachtbau shipyard in Germany is currently building the new Brenta 80 SRD designed by Lorenzo Argento. This is a natural evolution from the preceding Brenta 80 DC which was very successful and attracted many visitors in the course of last season’s Yacht shows. The Brenta 80 SRD is being built for a family with small children, a family which is used to sailing without a professional skipper. And the first yacht of this new model has been devised for sailing shorthanded albeit by experienced yachtsmen. The new Canados 808 Maximus was first presented at the latest Cannes Yachting Festival code named 777 is currently being built and will be officially exhibited at the international yacht shows next September. The Swan 115 was launched in the course of 2014, it was presented at the 2015 edition of the MYS, Monaco Yacht Show and still is the Finnish yard’s flagship designed by German Frers and destined to cross oceans and to perform in maxi yacht racing events round the world. Construction work started again at the end of February in the Cala del Forte in Ventimiglia, following the Monaco based building society’s acquisition of the area. The port is scheduled for completion during the summer of 2018. It will comprise 171 berths, a maintenance/repair yard and an area destined to commercially going concerns.
