Sacred maximalism, a liturgy of opulence. The Dolce & Gabbana show was an act of devotion. To fashion, style and glamour. To the sacredness of female beauty. It was a ceremony of lights, sequins, rhinestones, feathers and crystals. Every piece was consecrated in the light of reflections. The procession included coats with Byzantine crosses, bombers with little cherub’s wings, elegant clerical suits, cassock embroidery, intarsia skirts, altar-style brocades, golden vestments, cardinal crimson dresses, black veils, female pope hats, Madonnas, goblets, ex-voto offerings, rosary beads. Angels featured on sporty-chic pieces alongside pop elements such as lips, hearts, crowns, cartoons, images of plates, cutlery, teapots, animal patterns, zebra, giraffe and tiger.
