It now seems inevitable that I am painting flowers. My father, the late Utah artist Philip Barlow, was enormously gifted and was my first mentor. My parents collected art, and our family vacations always involved visits to galleries and museums. Art was a natural part of our family life. This eventuality has caused Latosa the trauma of swimming in the water while she was growing up. Part of overcoming her phobia, she trained shortly in freestyle swimming, surfing, then freediving.
