WE LAND Rover owners are a funny old bunch. I might forget the odd birthday, wedding anniversary or Land Rover day of significance but I will never forget the days we crossed the Makgadikgadi Pans of Botswana after an unseasonal downpour. It was only supposed to take us half a day but it took 48 hours and many recoveries to get the whole convoy of Land Rovers across. We had everything in that convoy from the latest big-body Range Rover to a small Tdi Defender 90. I remember pulling one of those Range Rovers out with my Defender 90 at 4.00 am. NOMINATIONS ARE now open for the National Land Rover Awards 2019, the winners of which will be chosen at Land Rover Legends, taking place at Bicester Heritage, on May 25 and 26. The focus of Land Rover Legends is on authenticity and originality, with the event featuring carefully curated static displays of important Land Rovers as well as the National Awards for Most Original, Best Restored and Best Bespoke Land Rover. Defender Jam THIS YEAR’S Defender Jam is once again set to descend on the stunning estate of Kelburn Castle near Largs on Saturday 31 August. With almost 20,000 followers on Instagram organisers have been inundated with questions about Defender Jam 2019 and following on from the success of last year it should be a lot of fun.
