JAGUAR LAND Rover has revealed a hike in its global sales, following a strong end to 2015. The last calendar year saw Land Rover topple 400,000 vehicle sales for the first time, helping parent company JLR to sell 487,065 cars across the globe. The figures show a five per cent increase on the figures produced in 2014, while sales have more than doubled to those in 2009 – Tata’s first full-year of ownership. Since Tata took control of the green oval, Land Rover sales have increased by six per cent year-on-year. Last year’s impressive figures are thought to be down to the success of the Range Rover Evoque, and the rise in Defender sales ahead of the car’s pending discontinuation at Solihull. It remains one of Land Rover’s bestselling vehicles of all time, and Mk1 owners will now be subject to services, parts and experiences courtesy of the green oval’s Heritage division. uRban tRuck has revealed the three cars set to spearhead its range of modified Land Rovers in 2016. The marque took the covers off of the 2016 Evoque, 2016 SVR and its beefed-up Ultimate 110 SW SE at Autosport International, with all three benefiting from Urban’s dab hand inside and out. Built to fit the face-lifted 2016 Evoque, Urban’s own take on the car features new front and rear bumpers, a sprayed front grille, shadow black side-steps, and a set of 22 inch alloys. Under the bonnet lies Land Rover’s new 2-litre Ingenium engine, while on the windscreen sits a £47,995 price-tag. The £112,000 SVR is the most expensive of Urban’s latest additions. JLR WIN GOLD FOR SUPPORT OF ARMED FORCES JAGUAR LAND Rover has been awarded a gold award for its active support of the Armed Forces community. The company has hired over 200 veterans since 2013, including placements for wounded and sick ex-servicemen and women. Fallon said: “They (JLR) are ensuring that the men and women who have done, and continue to do, so much for our nation are treated fairly.” The scheme will continue throughout 2016, alongside the marque’s sponsoring of the 2016 Invictus Games.
