I can’t believe HGTV Magazine is 5 years old! It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in an office with a small but mighty start-up staff, brainstorming all kinds of ways to make a new home magazine. True, plenty of our early ideas ended up on the cutting room floor, but, amazingly, many that debuted in our very first issue, October/November 2011, are still super popular with readers today. Our Fun Decorating and Help Wanted sections, and three columns (“The High/Low List,” “Wow! What Color Is That?” and “How Bad Is It…”) have all been going strong since day one. Make sure the wood is dry. Store it outside, off the ground, in a loose stack for at least six months before burning it.
