As a nation of pet lovers, our furry friends are often at the heart of our families. And for Gill Daghistani, her special bond with her fostered dog Wolfie not only brought her months of joy, but inspired her to help other canines in need.
In 2013, Gill launched Wolfie’s Legacy, an animal rehabilitation and adoption charity for disabled dogs, based in Holywell, Wales. She’s helped to save the lives of nearly 600 pooches with special needs, by matching the owners with dogs desperate for a home, many of whom were recommended for euthanasia due to severe injuries or birth deformities.
It’s a fulfilling yet hectic job, with Gill receiving thousands of calls every year, day and night, from people looking to rehome animals.
