Katie Smart first saw Sir George, an Appaloosa, advertised on Preloved. Gee Gee, as Katie called him, arrived after Katie had lost Wiggy, her coloured gelding who she had owned for 15 years.
“I knew as soon as I met George that he was a special horse,” she says of the gelding who arrived at her yard in November 2020. “After his initial suspicions about me and my partner, Rob, a trait of the Appaloosa, we formed a bond and there was no going back.”
George, it transpired, could turn his hoof to anything over the three-and-a-half years that Katie owned him, including in-hand and liberty work and trick training, plus horse agility, low-level dressage and hacking.
