Phillippa says: There are several main types of bitless bridle, including the sidepull, shank, crossunder, scawbrig, bosal and multi, with further variations within each type. For example, within shanks, there is orbitless, baroque pinwheel, flower and English. Each type applies contact differently but always via one or more of the contact points: poll, nose, jaw and curb. In terms of the most suitable contact for your horse, there are two main factors to consider:
