Brit pioneers conquer first Gaucho Derby
March 2020 marked the first-ever Gaucho Derby, a 10-day, 500km race across the wilds of Patagonia, run by the founders of the Mongol Derby. Being the first race of its kind, it was run by 23 hardy pioneers who were invited to test out the route, although it still proved to be a healthy competition.
Marie Griffis, from Montana, USA, took the top spot, with three British riders finishing in the top 10 — Clare King, who came second, and Louise Daly and Laura Redvers, who came joint sixth.
