Do squats without weights work?
Squats are not called the ultimate exercise for nothing. They work not only your buttocks, but your entire lower body, and can be done with or without added weight. If you’re relatively unfit, you can benefit hugely from the exercise, even if you only use your own body weight.
If, on the other hand, you already exercise a lot, you need to work harder. A good rule of thumb is that if you can easily do more than 20 squats, you should add extra weight to ensure that the exercise still challenges your muscles.
