BERTIE BOLT
Bertie, a South African leopard tortoise who lives in the UK, is the Usain Bolt of tortoises, having held the title of the world’s fastest tortoise since 2014.
How fast is he? He can clock 0,28m/s, more than double the average tortoise speed of 0,05 to 0,13 m/s.
“Bertie has always been very active,” say his owners, JANINE and MARCO CALZINI, who own Adventure Valley, the children’s amusement centre that Bertie calls home.
When he’s not breaking world records, Bertie spends his days with his girlfriend, Shelly. The pair have three offspring, and Bertie’s Guinness World Record certificate is displayed in the family’s enclosure.
