The phenomenon of revenge porn has developed rapidly over the past 10 years. “It’s defined as the sharing of intimate sexually-related photographs or videos without consent,” explains Bruce Macgregor, director of ME Attorneys. “The intent is to cause professional and personal embarrassment to the victim. “Revenge porn is a serious breach of a victim’s right to privacy as well as being a crime in terms of the Films and Publications Amendment Act, which outlaws the distribution of private sexual photographs and film on any medium without prior consent. Because investors are dependent on new investors for a return, the scheme collapses as soon as there are no more new investors and the existing investors start to withdraw their money. Here’s an example of how it works: you pay R100 to join the scheme and have to recruit six members, each of whom will pay you R100, so you could end up earning R500 from your R100 investment. THE United Nations (UN), an organisation that promotes international peace, security and cooperation between nations, recently revealed that the food that goes to waste around the world is far more than initially expected. A new UN report estimates that annually about a billion tons of food is wasted, which represents 17% of annual global food production. It’s become a problem as food is discarded by households, restaurants and stores and ends up in dumpsites to rot. In some cases, this is because food has passed its expiry date but in poorer countries, waste occurs because not all homes have fridges to keep food fresh.
