HE SIMPLY can’t understand why some people dread retirement. Cecil Peters, a former principal from East London in the Eastern Cape, spent years looking forward to this phase of his life. And when it finally rolled around, it was just as wonderful as he’d always expected it be.
“For me, retirement was like getting that reward you’d worked for your whole life,” says Cecil (62), who retired two years ago.
During his long teaching career he was always busy – from Sunday evenings, preparing for the week ahead, until late on Fridays. But now he at last has time for himself.
