THERE are many great things about my job. One of them is working with all kinds of interesting people in the company and hearing about the cool things they do. I’m often fascinated by my colleagues at Women’s Health. I’m a bit of a slouch in the exercise department so I’m amazed by their ability to do so many physical activities – and that they seem to actively seek them out! Sold as a solution to overpopulation and climate change, it allows them to consume fewer resources and live a lavish existence as their capital is multiplied exponentially. While most people will watch the film for Damon, it’s Golden Globe nominee Hong Chau who shines as a feisty political dissident with no filter. The movie eventually starts to drag a bit but what sets Downsizing apart from other films with a similar premise is its clever use of dark comedy to mask the heavy subject matter. Peter Daubermann started his career as an administrative assistant at the department of justice in 1976 and worked his way up to a state prosecutor in Makhanda (Grahamstown) in 1985.
