In response to the topic of assisted suicide raised by Margaret King (YOU Say, 3 September), I recently attended a bio-ethics forum at the University of Cape Town on euthanasia and assisted suicide. In my pondering of all the information presented, I came to some realisations. Firstly, that we have God-given autonomy over most of our lives – where we live, our job, who we marry. IF YOU’RE on a shoestring budget, try these simple ideas to give your room a fresh, updated look for the season. IT’S being called one of the biggest scientific projects of the 21st century. The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Project is an international operation to build the world’s largest telescope, worth more than R20 billion. The SKA will be able to survey the sky better and 10 000 times faster than any current imaging radio telescope and will be completed in phases. Phase 1 will start in 2018 by integrating the existing MeerKAT in South Africa – which is still being completed – and the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) precursor telescopes.
