IT’S that time of the year when everything feels as if it really should be over now. Deadlines, being stuck in traffic, worrying about childcare and bills and water shortages and . . . and . . . and . . . So it was with great delight that we started this week with two great stories. We woke up to the news of our own Demi-Leigh taking home the Miss Universe crown (only the second South African after Margaret Gardiner to do so!) – and ended the day with the happy news Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were engaged. My son was born with a heart defect. For five years I’ve watched my boy fight illness. I’ve seen trauma and felt it. I’ve watched my baby die and miraculously survive.
