HER DEATH DIMINISHES US
The brutal murder of Karabo Mokoena has shocked South Africa (YOU, 25 May). We’re enmeshed in a culture of death which now involves killing spouses, raping women and children, burning vehicles, torching public property and injuring innocent human beings.
Human life is sacred. Whoever takes it wantonly thus strikes out against not just his victim, but against every moral foundation of society.
Whenever and wherever murder and violence occurs, we suffer another loss from what little sustains us and holds us together.
