ALL animals – whether they live in a game reserve or on a farm, whether they’re wild creatures or domestic pets – have one thing in common: they need to eat! Different animals eat different kinds of food. Sheep and cattle, for example, eat grass, while lions eat other animals such as antelope.
Animals, including humans, can be divided into three groups according to what they eat: herbivores (eat plants), carnivores (eat meat) and omnivores (eat plants and meat). How do you tell them apart? You could of course watch them to see what they eat, but their teeth also give away something about their diet.
