EVERYBODY HATED CHRIS Born the eldest of eight brothers, Chris (51) was raised in Brooklyn, New York, by his teacher mother, Rosalie, and truck-driver father, Julius. “We lived in one of the most famous ghettos in the world. My mother and father wanted me to go to a better school, so I was bused to this poor white neighbourhood. I was the only black boy in my grade for most of the time. I was a little guy, too, a skinny runt” Chris was bullied constantly but says it built his character and inspired him to write the TV series Everybody Hates Chris, which chronicles his difficult teen years.
