Don Street, legendary US-born sailor, writer and raconteur, has died at the age of 93.
A few months before he died, Street contacted Yachting World about an article he proposed writing. This is his own introduction:
“My background: at 93 I am the oldest yachting writer in the world still writing, having published my first article ‘Going South’, in Yachting September 1964.
“In March 1957 I purchased the 46ft engineless British cutter Iolaire, built 1905. I converted her to yawl. For the next 52 years I cruised, raced, explored, charted and wrote about the Eastern Caribbean.
