Research has pointed out a direct link between ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and accelerated biological aging. These foods, which many of us tend to think of as innocuous, are capable of doing our bodies and our life spans far more harm than good.
UPF products are mainly made from substances that are not used in a home kitchen. These include:
∘ Hydrogenated fats
∘ Maltodextrins
∘ Artificial flavours and preservatives
Examples include biscuits, sweets, processed cakes, crisps, soft drinks, processed rice, instant noodles, fruit-flavored yogurts, and processed bread. Most of them have additives to improve their taste, texture, or duration of storage while lacking vitamins and fiber.…
