With the highly anticipated 20th birthday of Strictly Come Dancing on our screens, Tess Daly is also personally marking two decades of the hit show, having been a co-host since its inception in 2004.
Tess, 55, was pregnant with her elder daughter Phoebe, 20 this month, during the first series, and she’s now admitted she had no idea how successful Strictly would be. ‘We didn’t know what to expect, whether it would ignite the viewers’ imagination. We couldn’t believe it when it took off like it did,’ she said. ‘And working with [original co-host] Bruce Forsyth, someone I’d grown up watching on television, was such an incredible honour.’
