Everyone has a person they look up to in life. Whether it’s a parent, teacher, aunt or friend – it’s comforting to know they’re the one you can rely on, for advice and sympathy or even just an example to follow. For as long as I can remember, I’d looked up to my sister Kaley. Six years older than me, she was the one who showed me how to do cartwheels. As teenagers, Kaley, then 14, our middle sister Terrell, 12, and I all performed in a local dance troupe that our mum, Lynn, ran. But Kaley was undoubtedly the star of the show. Yet, unknown to most of our friends, Kaley struggled with kidney problems so severe she’d spend entire evenings lying in bed exhausted.
