Michelle Walker, 32, lives in Edinburgh.
As a child, I was chubby, and though everyone told me it was just puppy fat, I got bigger in my teens. After graduating, I got a job. I tried to eat healthily at lunch but by drowning salads in mayonnaise and snacking on crisps, the calories added up.
By August 2012, aged 28, I weighed 22st and was a size 26. At 5ft 3in, I looked round. Still, it wasn’t until I went on holiday that I found a reason to change for good – which was the moment I sat on a chair in a cafe and it collapsed beneath my weight. I was mortified.
