For author Kitty Johnson, bringing a character to life comes naturally. However, when her son Alfie, now 19, left for university and she found herself with an empty nest, a talk at her local WI would inspire her to get involved with the ordinary people dedicated to rescuing and saving one particular ‘cute, characterful, busy, thirsty, hungry, noisy creature.’ Soon Kitty had entered a world of occasional tears, many smiles and, of course, lots and lots of prickles!
