Having to share with your siblings could be annoying for some people, but for Edith Fell – one of 16 brothers and sisters – it was an absolute joy and something she would never change.
Edith, now 88, was the 14th child – and youngest daughter – born to baker, and later painter and decorator, Frank Taylor and his wife Laura, who lived in Surfleet, Lincolnshire. Their first child Alan was born in 1919 and they were also parents to Maurice (Mo), John, Eileen, Frank, Brian, Jean, Alfred, twins May and Gertrude, Basil, June and Marie by the time Edith was born in 1935. Her younger brothers Owen and Edward arrived a couple of years later.
