There’s something about watching the old Hollywood movies I find thrilling, especially the timeless glamour and effortless chic of the actors. I come from a large family – one of eight children – and as kids, we spent most of our time cycling to the nearby beach and loch, where we would swim and play for hours. But, on a Sunday, we’d all watch a film as a family, and it was pure Hollywood escapism. It was such a treat, as it meant we were allowed sweets, usually chocolate or chocolate limes. ADVICE FROM OUR WOMAN’S WEEKLY DOCTOR The bacteria borrelia burgdorferi is carried by ticks after biting infected woodland animals. It causes Lyme disease in humans if the biting tick stays attached for 36-48 hours. Removing the tick within 48 hours reduces your risk of getting it. High-risk places for ticks include grassy and wooded areas. Living on shrubs, ticks can’t fly or jump, they grab on to you as you brush by, although not all ticks are infected. Without early treatment, Lyme becomes an inflammatory condition affecting skin, joints and the nervous system, later affecting the heart and brain. Tick bites aren’t always painful, and symptoms typically start after three to 30 days, but you may not notice symptoms until months later. Lyme is hard to diagnose for several reasons.…

It’s the night of Wendy’s surprise do, and I’m beginning to wonder whether this dress might have been a mistake.
