One of the first childhood holidays I really remember was to Cornwall; we drove down from eastern England, which in those days was a real adventure – even dual carriageways were a rarity then. We stayed at a rundown old cottage in the fishing village of Newlyn and explored the sun-drenched coast, discovering a myriad of pretty cliffs and coves, before coming across what we thought was the perfect beach, at Porthcurno. Leg ulcers usually develop on the inside of the leg, between the knee and the ankle.
