Arriving at Paddington I can still vividly remember hurrying along the pavement, thinking I was going at full pelt, and yet being surprised that my mum could keep up with me by just walking fast. I was four, and we were rushing to the library for the latest Paddington Bear book, just published. In my mind’s eye, we then took it home and I read it, but in reality I was no pre-school prodigy, so it must have been my mum doing the reading. However, I’ve never lost my early love of Paddington (or, as a result, the station he’s named after), and I enjoyed the recent films hugely.
