Former newsreader Angela Rippon has been a familiar face on our screens ever since she first became a reporter for the BBC in the late 60s. MERINGUE AND RASPBERRY RIPPLE SEMIFREDDO At less than 100 cals per serving, this is a no-guilt and all-pleasure pudding. SERVES 6 ✣ 500ml tub frozen vanilla yogurt ✣ 150g (5oz) raspberries ✣ zest of ½ lemon ✣ 8 mini meringues, broken into pieces You will need: ✣ 900g (2lb) loaf tin lined with cling film 1 Place the loaf tin in the freezer. Roots of the trade Britain has enjoyed a cut-flower trade for hundreds of years, from nurserymen specialising in plants such as tulips, to West Country growers sending daffs and violets by express train to London’s Covent Garden Flower Market. Gastroenteritis is an infection of the bowel, causing diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever. It’s common, usually mild and should settle on its own. Most cases in children are caused by viruses, the most common was rotavirus, although this is now vaccinated against as part of the NHS infant vaccination schedule in the eight and 12-week jabs. In both adults and children another viral cause is norovirus. It often recurs, as it’s highly infectious, surviving on unwashed surfaces for several days, yet we don’t tend to develop much immunity.
