April’s mum, Sally Fellingham-Huggett, 58, lives in Brockham, Surrey, with her husband, Jim, 67.
She says, ‘When April was first diagnosed, my instinct was, “This can’t be happening.” Then, discovering I’d passed on the gene left me feeling terribly guilty. As a parent, you do everything to protect your children. April just kept saying, “It’s not your fault,” and finally I accepted we had to face up to this.
