My grandmother taught me to cross-stitch when I was young. I had a natural talent for it.
Over the years, I took on more complex work, such as re-enactment costumes and items for museums.
But when I became a full-time carer for my stepson, Tom, who has cerebral palsy, I wanted a bigger project, something to work on while at home with him.
