Every woman needs at least one versatile dress in her life. I have become a later-life dress convert because it makes morning dressing so easy. No more wondering which of my separates go together and deciding halfway through the day the outfit doesn’t work! Now I just choose a dress, and for the summer I add sandals and sunglasses, while in winter it’s boots and a chunky cardi. One of autumn’s top sellers is set to be the dress on page 16. Fond memories It’s always a pleasure and a comfort for me now to read the magazine my mother used to read. We both enjoyed reading so much and while I was engrossed in my young girls’ magazines she would sit quietly with Woman’s Weekly. We both, however, got very excited at the Robins stories and followed the family avidly. It made me feel cosy and safe, like the Robins in their nest. Back in 1979, I was supposed to meet my friend Becky on the beach near her house. We used to meet, with various friends, every Sunday, same place, same time. In COPD, the lung tissue is inflamed with congestion and increased mucus narrowing the airways, or conversely there’s a breakdown of the fine sponge-like tissue, making large holes. As a result, the lung surface is less efficient at transporting oxygen into the blood. The two main disorders are ‘chronic bronchitis’, where there is long-term inflammation of the lung tissue, and ‘emphysema’, where the air sacs are damaged and enlarged. Poison protection Q I think my neighbours may be putting down rat poison. Should I be worried about my dog? Keep your coffee machine up to scratch with a monthly vinegar rinse. Simply fill with a few tablespoons of white vinegar mixed with water, run it, and then run it once more with only water.
