Mary Sangwin Mary Sangwin joined the ATS in September 1944 from London University. She was trained in Morse, radio theory, and codes and ciphers. Mary worked in the Military Section’s SIXTA team on traffic analysis. GARDENER’S PINNY Nowhere to put anything when you’re gardening? Make yourself this indispensable little pocketed apron. 1 Cut the back out of the jeans, snipping tightly along the inside of the side seams, under the pockets and under the waste band. 2 Turn and pin under the bottom and side edges of the fabric by 1cm seam and topstitch in place. 3 Cut the contrasting fabric into 10cm wide strips. Betty Webb MBE Joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) in 1941, bilingual Charlotte Vine-Stevens, now Betty Webb, had her potential spotted quickly.
