‘People find it so relaxing they fall asleep’ I came across the Bowen Technique many years ago when I had chronic lower back pain. I had tried several physical therapies, including osteopathy and physiotherapy, with minimal success and decided to give it a go. Bowen is a gentle form of soft tissue therapy with the therapist working specific parts of the body with gentle, rolling-type moves over the muscle and connective tissue (fascia). The practitioner is able to detect stress build-up in the muscles and other soft tissue, enabling them to perform specific moves to assist recovery and pain relief. Where I went The north coast of Norfolk which is a beautiful area of East Anglia, full of marshes, rare birds, sandy beaches, stately homes and pretty villages. What I did Where do I start? There is so much to see and do. We spent a sunny (but windy) day on Burnham Overy Staithe beach – when the tide is out you can walk for miles. Then we walked the one and a half miles back to our car via the sandy walkway, which runs through the scenic reclaimed salt marshes. Help! I’ve been given a cookbook for mug cakes that you bake in the microwave. The butter ingredients are given in tablespoons. How much does 1tbsp of butter weigh? Use the largest mug you have to stop the mixture overflowing and use a measuring spoon! Snoring doesn’t just affect overweight, middle-aged men – women, and even children may snore, too. But obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA/blocked breathing during sleep) tends to be underdiagnosed in women, and even though up to one in three sufferers is female, up to half don’t report OSA symptoms, perhaps because of embarrassment.
